The Trashy Trailer

After selling my Squarebody and Squarebody Trailer combo, I needed another trailer to pull behind the ’61 Apache.

I bought one, and I chose poorly.

After all my work, it now looks like this (but didn’t start this way):

I actually bought it like this:

And then found that…

  1. It wasn’t actually 4×8
  2. It was so cobbled together it had no rigidity
  3. It had four (4) tongues
  4. It was lenghtened, but the axle not repositioned (heavy tongue weight)
  5. No marker lights
  6. No functioning lights
  7. Chevette wheels bolted to Chevette rotors, attached to Chevette spindles, welded to square tube.

I don’t know if I should be impressed, or scared.  Probably both.

$ 200 New plywood, steel, hinges, and paint

$   50 Lights and wiring

$ 200 Tow bill

$ 375 New axle, hardware, and lifting jack

$ 225 New tires
