Continuing to put things together in anticipation of paint…..

I used OBS (88-98) 8600GVW brake hoses, but split the factory bracket in two and made two mounts for the hoses. This seems to clear well at ride height, full up and aired out:

OBS 8600GVW C2500 Calipers got blasted and painted, and the NBS Hydroboost unit got painted.

In an effort to reduce my personal stress levels, I’ve tried to “unplug” from my self-imposed “deadlines” and just putter in the shop.  Stuff will get done, but I need the shop and this project to be my “escape” and not too “goal-oriented.” I’ve probably mentioned before, my Myers-Briggs personality type is the same as every tv and movie villain; it’s not that I’m trying to take over the world, it’s that I will accomplish my goals regardless the cost. That can be good, but also unhealthy. Nevertheless….

Brake master mounted:

Smoothed out the center caps as good as I cared to, and blasted and painted the front rotors (Brake Caliper paint). These will be cut once I’m back at work, as I don’t have a brake lathe at home.

And painted the rear calipers:

And reinstalled the turbo:

Front brakes assembled:

And then finally started digging into the rad support.  Rusty nasty bottoms were cut out, and I blasted until I ran out of sand.

And primed, letting it cure for a week before I weld in the patches:

Patches welded in:

Next patches formed:

All this was primed, then welded in:

Also making changes to my solvent tank, which dissolved its second pump. Bought a skookum pump which will now be held in a translucent bucket, pumped up to the tank, and drained back into the bucket.

Inner fenders mounted so I could tweak the door-to-fender gaps.

Not perfect, but if you aim for perfection, you’ll never get it finished; Chevy aimed low, I can too.

Handy to use studs to hang the fender when you know you’re going to take them on and off repeatedly:

Also made a bit to my home-made slide hammer to pull door and fender edges into alignment with each other.

And just tried a bit of blocking on the walnut bag fender to see what would happen.  This looks promising.  Could build this up pretty easily with just more epoxy primer.

Disassembled the hinges so they could be blasted and re-bushed. I need to get two pins. One for sure.
