Milwaukee Drill Resurrected

And yeah, I got it back together.  But by the time it was done, it was probably a good thing that the kids were in bed.

Bought a replacement gear assembly off a Milwaukee parts supplier for $40US.  One wee spring was missing, but I got it figured out.

You can avoid this entirely by NOT trying to drill through 2′ x 3″ rectangular steel tube with a 4″ hole saw.  Apparently this is too much.

The upside, the replacement part has been upgraded in the areas that failed.

Patterns, The Sheet Metal Time-Saver

Make it out of cardboard. If you can’t make it out of cardboard first, you won’t be able to make it out of metal.

Think about how easy it is to cut and shape cardboard. And if you screw up, it’s only cardboard.

Why yes, they DO come off.

It took quite a bit of abuse to do so, probably made worse by trying to cut a 2-3/4″ hole in steel.  The chatter exploded the original chuck.
